Vanity Belongs to Jane: A Masterpiece of Residential Space Design

Exploring Haochen Su's Award-Winning Design Concept

Unveiling the unique design philosophy behind Haochen Su's "Vanity Belongs to Jane", a residential space that marries art and functionality, and the innovative techniques that brought this vision to life.

Driven by the concept of light and deconstructive design, Haochen Su has created a residential space that is both functional and artistic. The design inspiration for "Vanity Belongs to Jane" came from a desire to give life to space and space to art. This was achieved by setting up numerous art sculptures throughout the space, enhancing the overall artistic atmosphere.

The uniqueness of this design lies in its innovative use of line concepts to divide the space. This, combined with courtyard landscaping, creates a harmonious echo between the indoor and outdoor areas. Large building blocks are used to separate and leave blank spaces, resulting in a design that is concise, atmospheric, and enduring.

The realization of this design was made possible through the use of various materials such as volcanic stone, rock board, ceramic tile, copper board, wood finish, and emulsion paint. The project, which spans an area of 1600 square meters, is a testament to Su's innovative approach to residential space design.

The design process began with a site investigation, followed by the development of a conceptual scheme and indoor plane scheme. The facade space scheme and facade space effect drawing were then determined, after which construction drawings were made, leading to the final construction. This meticulous process ensured the design's seamless integration with the natural environment.

Throughout the design process, Su prioritized concepts of science and technology, innovation, practicality, boldness, and economy. One of the major challenges encountered was the need to respect the owners' design preferences while implementing new ideas. Despite these challenges, the design was successfully completed in Zhejiang in February 2022, two years after its inception.

As a testament to its excellence, "Vanity Belongs to Jane" was awarded Silver in the A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2023. This prestigious award recognizes top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. It is a fitting accolade for a design that not only provides a place to live but also creates a memory of a lifetime.
